This is a great phone! So many features. I was looking for a small iPod for when I go walking and decided to check out a phone instead just in case the quality of the music players had gone up. Well not only does this phone have a great music player but it has a great interface. AND it can tell me how far I've walked! All on top of being a great phone. My wife loved it so much I had to get a second. She plays games on it a lot.
Here are the few cons:
- i can't remap or disable the internet button. So it can be accidentally pressed.
- I can't easily lock the keypad. If I'm at the home screen and I have it open, sliding it closed will do this. But I don't always have it open when I use it. Or at the home screen.
- Battery life is weak but it may be because I use it for so much.
ALSO DO NOT BUY A CASE WITH A MAGNETIC LATCH! I did and the phone comes on be itself. Must be the way they detect the sliding.
In conclusion I LOVE THIS PHONE.

Amazing phone! Has all the features one could ever want. I ordered 2, a black one for me and a pink one for my wife. She claims the battery life on hers is not good but I don't have problems with mine. Excellent music quality with headphones and a great radio! We had the precursor to these phones and Sony has made many improvements. The only beef I have is that this phone does not come with a memory chip - you have to buy separately to get your content into the phone. All in all, this is a great phone.

The Sony Ericsson W580i is a good phone. The call quality is good and the volume is loud enough for all but the loudest environments. The mp3 player is not up to par though. The volume is much to low when using the supplied headphones. If you turn the volume up to anything over moderate levels it distorts the headphones. Other headphones seem to do a little better, but the volume is still not what it should be. The blue tooth works well. LetsTalk seems to be a reputable company and their sales staff was really helpful.

Not upto the expectations and hype. If you are using a bluetooth headset, the battery dries out too fast. It won't last even a day. I usually charge it every other day.
The make of the phone is poor. Only the sliding mechanism is better. All the other parts looks cheap. Key board is the worst I've seen in a Sony phone yet.
I won't get signal inside apartment (for AT&T). Not sure about other networks.
Camera is good (2MP) in bright day light. It sucks in dark. Photos are ok.
If you can find a better phone go for it. If you are a die hard sony fan like me, go for this phone.
-Sam.

I bought two of these phones, one for myself and one for my daughter. I have tried out many types of cell phones in the past months and found nothing I liked until now that I got the Sony Ericsson W580i. This cell phone is the best yet that I have found. I would recommend it to anyone out there.

Coming from a three year old Nokia 6016i, the Sony Ericsson w580i (carbon grey) was a step up in many respects. The 6016i was made to be a phone first. The w580i was made to be a phone with features. Pros: Call quality is solid Bars vary up and down, but always seem to have a signal. Very nice display, crisp and bright. Relatively intuitive and fast GUI Synchronization with Outlook via USB or Bluetooth. Music and videos sound great via supplied ear buds. Can modify shortucut keys Bluetooth pairs well with Sony Akono headset (HBH-608. Games are nice, but no freebies were included. Speakerphone is good, just don't turn it up to top volume. Speakerphone can be used when phone is closed. Camera is adequate for 2mp, not a camera replacement. Organizer apps are nice (alarms, calc, calendar, fitness, etc.) Bluetooth control of laptop is interesting. MP3's for ringtones, just need to edit them down to fit. Phone charges when connected via USB. Feel, overall the phone materials feel nicern. Cons: Keypad is tiny, takes some getting used to (i am not a texter. Slider, moving parts are always bad. Construction, relatively solid when in bar form, too much play when top is slid up. Construction, keys feel nice, but do not feel like they will be durablernM2 memory stickrnM2 memory stick - games can crash when played directly from stick. Proprietary connector for devices (will be nice when USB can do it all. Overall a good phone. Worth a purchase. It handles calls fine and does much more. It delivers on the features that are included. It was free with a new account from LetsTalk.com. Service from ATT has been good in my area as well. I will go back to a candy bar phone after this one and would purchase another Sony Ericsson or Nokia.

I've only had the Sony Ericsson W580i for a couple of days but I am in love with it already! Pros: battery better than previous phones I've had, call quality great, easy to use, love the slide design, FM radio is great, many other things too!Cons: The only 2 cons I've found is having the screen exposed but just get a good case for it. I've heard not to get magnetic closure ones. The other con as mentioned before is the possibility of connecting to the internet unintentionally. I have unlimited usage so it doesn't affect me. Has only happened once so far. I love the color combination with the gray phone also. I wasn't crazy about the black and orange, but the gray is so much more appealing. Awesome phone!!

We live way out in the boonies and have JUST enough coverage to make calls which means that sometimes I can make a call from the dining room, right at the patio door or sometimes I can make a call from the living room, right by the door, or from the bathroom, in the tub, but always from the deck outside. Even in 20 degree weather.I like the Sony Ericsson W580i a lot. I bought it because of the long battery life. I figured it may give me the range I need to get the coverage I'd need to make calls out here. I like the quality of sound that comes from it. Andrea Boccelli sounds great and is not fuzzed out like some phones do. I like the quality of the pictures too. You can really see what you have taken a picture of on the screen. The ONLY problem I am having is that I had the new memory card installed after I had taken several pictures and cannot seem to get them downloaded now. That is the only thing that is bothering me. And I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. Thanks. Luanne Toskin

This is one cool phone - I bought this phone for my teenage son. Initially tried for a different Ericsson and while that was on backorder this phone became available. A good example of good things come to those who wait! Easy to use, excellent sound quality, great 'coolness' factor to boot . I have a BlackJack (which I love) but find myself thinking about trading - it's not considered a PDA but certainly does all the things I use my Blackjack for - email, IM, tunes, web and (Oh right) phone calls... A phone is only as good as the carrier service and AT&T is outstanding - no dropped calls (unlike my previous carrier), voice quality like a land-line, great billing information - no mysterious data access charges. - tells you what you used, when, how long etc.. Great prices, service and choices from Let's Talk!

This phone has pretty cool features and has a great look to it. However, I was unable to find the Infrared port and flash that Let'sTalk told me it had. I don't think it has a flash, so LetsTalk should fix that statement. However, I've seen conflicting evidence about whether or not it actually has an infrared port. If it does, I would like to find out where it's located. Also, the buttons are kind of close together and small, but it is easy to live with and isn't too noticeable. Besides those things, the phone is perfect. I would definitely recommend this phone.
